Magnetic SpiritualityThe inspiration behind what brought me close to my own spirituality concerning my own relationship with our Higher Power was to see precisely how such spirituality operates. The best analogy which worked for me was to think of it as the repulsion and attraction of magnets. Scientists can't fully explain the source of such power, which they call gauss, in the natural world and how it can exist. Due to their own blindness they refuse to witness that there is a direct correlation between magnetism and the Force Of Nature known as a Higher Power. To begin with, the man who feels alienated from spiritual matters is considered negative. The Higher Power will naturally repel anything with a like charge: Negativity displaces negativity. This negativity creates discord within that man's soul, a soul which refuses to acknowledge this Power. Thus, the repulsion and other negative traits which stem from this phenomena: Anger, isolation, alienation, revulsion and despair among all other negative traits. Because of this factor, spirituality cannot be forced between one and the Higher Power, a Power which only an insane man vehemently denies the existence of. Authorities could mandate that one get in touch with such a Power but human authority does no good for such a man who is not sane. For once that authority is removed, the repulsion is immediate. This is the key reason why slips occur: Try holding the negative pole of a magnet against the like pole of another. Human authority cannot hold them together forever and they "slip" apart immediately. Even manmade structures and inventions break down so, at best, even a simple quarantine is ineffective for it eventually has an end. That's simply the fact of man's chaotic nature. Since the Higher Power cannot be changed because this Power, Who is God, has all power, it's ultimately up to the alcoholic to change and to "turn it around" to beseech His Guidance. It's only when that man's surrender to this Divine Authority that he becomes a more positive man. His own attitude changes as he finds himself attracted to God. God, remaining negative as to this man's character defects including their denial of Himself, is neither moved nor can be moved. It's man who does. Because the alcoholic has now found a new alignment within the universe it is imperative that such positive alignment is maintained. That means that the man's own past betrayal is to be amended. Only by taking inventory can he see the depth of his own errors and how his own vanity blinded him to the Ultimate Truth. Among his fellow men he is seen rightly as a degenerate until amends are made. Only when he admits his own powerlessness and realizes the futility and insanity of his own resistance can he then turn it over, aligning with God, and finding himself one with His Spirituality and becoming positive in nature.
